Gachon Museum is the spiritual representation of Gil Hospital, the Gachon University of Medicine and Science, that has practiced humanitarian acts for about 50 years with the faith of ‘benevolence, service, and patriotism. It was opened on Oct. 31, 1995 and transferred to a new place on Nov. 1, 2006 after the construction of a new building in Ongnyeon-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Including 14 pieces of cultural assets (1 national treasure and 13 treasures), the Gachon Museum has a total of 20,000 pieces of relics including about 1,000 pieces of medical and living relics, 5,200 pieces of general antique books, 500 pieces of modern governmental records, and 9,100 pieces of first issued periodicals that is the largest amount in Korea.
Based on the 50 years of history created by Gil Hospital, the Gachon University of Medicine and Science, Gachon Museum continues its development as a ‘medical museum’ that leads the research of Korean medical history.
