Incheon Metropolitan City Museum
The Metropolitan City Museum was opened on the ridge of Incheon Jayu Park in 1946. It was recorded as the first museum in Korea. This historic museum was transferred to its current site in Ongnyeon-dong, Yeonsu-gu in 1990 and was renovated in modern style. Thanks to the efforts made to discover local cultural assets, the Metropolitan City Museum possesses about 4,300 old artworks. Equipped with 3 exhibition halls and an outdoor museum, the history of Incheon is being reflected throughout those places. In front of the entrance of the museum, there are 3 pieces of iron Buddhist bells (Local Tangible Cultural Asset No. 3).

Traffic information

  • Location : 26, Cheongnyang-ro 160 beon-gil
  • Take an ordinary bus No. 6, 16, 9, and 99 or an express city bus No. 107 at Dong-Incheon Station. In case of driving to the museum, follow the sign pointing towards Songdo direction at the end of 1st and 2nd Gyeongin Expressway. It is located 10 minutes away.

Right next to Metropolitan City Museum, the Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation is situated and the place down there is Songdo Resort. These areas are especially known for delectable delicacies, and there are many new restaurants at the back of Songdo Resort. Walking for about 10 minutes, you will reach Dongmak that is famous for its steamed crab dish and shellfish hotpot. Since there are many inns besides the five-star hotel Ramada-Songdo, there is no need to worry about a place to stay. When climbing up Mt. Cheongryang right back of Dongmak, visitors can meet the time-honored temples including Hobulsa Temple and Heungryunsa Temple. Also, the site of Songdo New Town formation is reachable from here.
